They're Just Two Little Girls from Little Rock

If you've never had to opportunity to see Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on the silver screen, Tuesday is your chance!

While Marilyn Monroe's performance of Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend is perhaps the better-known musical moment in the film - let me assure you that Jane Russell's number with 25+ bare-chested, hunkarific gymnasts is equally memorable.

This film is loosely based on the 1925 novel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: The Illuminating Diary of a Professional Lady, and features several songs from the 1949 Broadway musical, starring Carol Channing.

Monroe is absolutely beautiful and hilarious as the charmingly capitalistic Lorelei Lee.

Russell's performance is equally as enjoyable and is a celebration of Grade-A smart assedness and sass!

I was seventeen going on eighteen

The glasses may be bad - but trust me, having bifocals in high school was even worse.

Brother, Can You Spare $2.3 million?

jupiter_2.jpgWhen I was in sixth grade, our teacher asked us to draw the floor plan of our dream house.

A number of my classmates fashioned mansions with elaborate swimming pools, gigantic TV/Rec rooms and super-sized garages (for their souped-up Corvettes).

I, on the other hand, drew a round building made entirely of concrete and glass. Curved walls (offering ample closet space and inset bookshelves) emanated like twisted spokes from the exterior windows. It was two stories, with one level entirely underground. The basement even had its own power supply, kitchen and well (in the country, that's where you get your water, y'all). I’m not quite certain why I designed a bunker, but I suspect it had something to do with watching The Day After.

There's also this vague recollection that each room had some sort of theme -- leopard print decor and Warhol’s pop to mind. You can thank Solid Gold for that.

In other words, it was a Jupiter 2 inspired bomb shelter with Sherlock Holmesian overtones and Studio 54 accents. Ohhhhh!!! That just made me tingle.

Anyway, I just stumbled across this listing at Christie’s and it reminded me of that dream domicile of days done did:
The Round House - Wilton Connecticut. It even spins 360 degrees!!!!

It’s just my luck that the days of sub-prime lending are over – even though in six months I couldn’t swing one week's worth of the mortgage.

It sure would have been nice to call this place home....even for just a few days.
